The Stolz monument
at the Vienna Stadtpark 

Bad Hall

Upper Austria. Market town, health resort in the northern Traunviertel. First documentary mention in 777. 

Sights:

  •  Castle (built in 1645)
  • Jugendstil buildings (built between 1895 and 1910) 
  • Late classicist town hall 
  • In the surroundings: Baroque castle Feyregg (first documentary mention in 1170)

Bad Ischl

Upper Austria. City (1940). Health resort in the heart of the Salzkammergut, confluence of Traun and Ischl. 
From 1854 to 1914, summer resort of emperor Franz Joseph I and the composers Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), Johann Strauß Son (1825-1899), Anton Bruckner (1824-1896), Emmerich Kálmán (1882-1953), Franz Lehár (1870-1948).

Robert Stolz was honorary citizen of the city of Graz and holder of the ring of honor of the Province Styria.

Commemorative tablet on the house of the former music school, which was directed by Robert Stolz's father from 1900 to 1919.

Between Glacis and Stadtparkbrunnen there is a Robert Stolz bust by Erwin Huber (1970, erected in 1972) The Robert-Stolz-Promenade in the Stadtpark runs parallel to the Glacis. 

Oberwart

Burgenland. Town in the Pinka valley. First documentary mention in 1327.

Upper Austria. Market town on the Wolfgangsee. Berth.

 Sights: 

  • Parish church (first documentary mention in 1180, finished around 1414) with a sumptuous late Gothic winged altar-piece (1471-81) by Michael Pacher (1435-1498) 
  • Pilgrimage fountain (1515) 
  • Cemetery chapel (1685-88) 
  • Former parsonage, in the core late Gothic, today a castle (reconstructed in 1695-97) 
  • Hotel „Im Weissen Rössl", well-known through the operetta of the same name (1930) by Ralph Benatzky (1884-1957, successful composer of songs, hit tunes and operettas)

Trofaiach

Styria. Town on the Vorderberger Bach. 

Sights: 

  • Gothic parish church, in the core Romanesque, with Gothic frescos (15th century) and sumptuous high altar (first documentary mention in 1722)
  • Stibichhofen castle (15th and 17th century, today a museum) 
  • Mell castle (reconstructed in 1871/72) 
  • Renaissance castle of Oberdorf (commune Gai) 

Robert-Stolz-Gesundbrunnen

The „Gesundbründl" was restored in 1994 and named after Robert Stolz. Close to the fountain is the Robert Stolz memorial stone with relief (Josef Lehner, 1994) 

Vienna

Robert Stolz was honorary citizen of the city of Vienna and holder of the ring of honor of the city of Vienna. 

Wien 1., Elisabethstraße 16

In 1979, a commemorative tablet by Rudolf Schwaiger was fixed on the house of the composer. 

Wien 1., Robert-Stolz-Platz (between Schillerplatz and Opernring) 

This place was named after Robert Stolz in 1978. 

Wien 1., Stadtpark

The monument in the Stadtpark, a portrait bust by Rudolf Friedl, was unveiled in 1980. 

Wien 2., Prater

On the road to the Riesenrad (giant wheel) - along the Kaisergarten - (imperial garden) there is a Robert Stolz monument created by Rudolf Friedl in 1985. 

Wien 6., Wallgasse 18-20, Raimundtheater

Several works by Robert Stolz were performed here for the first time: „Das Glücksmädel" (1910), „Die eiserne Jungfrau" (1911), „Die Liebe geht um" (1922). In the foyer of the first balcony there is a Robert Stolz bust. 

Wien 11., Simmeringer Hauptstraße 234, Zentralfriedhof (central cemetery) 

Robert Stolz was laid to rest in a tomb of honor of the city of Vienna (Gruppe 32 C, no. 24). 

Wien 13., Dommayergasse 1, Café „Dommayer"

A commemorative tablet on the facade of the Café „Dommayer" reminds of a meeting of Johann Strauss Son and Robert Stolz in 1899. 

Wien 19., Cobenzlgasse 22, Heuriger Reinprecht

In 1938, Robert Stolz composed in this house the song „Ich bin in Grinzing einheimisch". A commemorative tablet on the frontage of the house reminds of that. In the inner court there is also a Robert Stolz commemorative plaque.

Wiener Neustadt

Lower Austria. Town bordering on the Province Burgenland. 

Sights: 

  • Main place with access galleries and town hall
  • Municipal parish church (late Romanesque core with early Gothic component parts, furnishing of the 17th/18th century) 
  • Neuklosterkirche (tomb of Emperess Eleonore of Portugal, 1436-1467) 
  • Former church St. Peter on the Sperr, today exhibition hall with integrated town museum 
  • Former castle of the Babenberger (second half of the 13th century), reconstructed under Empress Maria Theresia, partly wrecked in 1945 
  • Georgskirche (crypt chapel of Emperor Friedrich III, who resided occasionally in Wiener Neustadt in the 15th century. Tomb of Emperor Maximilian I under the high altar) 
  • Robert Stolz monument 
  • Robert Stolz apartment house complex with twelve apartment houses named after operettas by Robert Stolz
